Norman Spalding, D.D.S.
Norman Spalding, DDS is a 1974 graduate of the prestigious University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Spalding worked for an American Indian health clinic in Oroville. Two years later he began practicing full time in Sacramento and working two evenings each month in Walnut Grove. The Walnut Grove office consisted of one dental chair above Central Market and provided dental care for low income residents of the Delta. It was operated by Regional Rural Health Program of Dixon. When the clinic closed in 1978, Dr. Spalding decided to establish a full time dental practice in Walnut Grove. He refurbished a historic residence on Brown's Alley and began treating patients in the modern office in 1980.
In 1998, after 25 years in private practice, Dr. Spalding retired. His wife, Dr. Flora Young Spalding, a High School Vice-Principal, retired on the same day. The next day, the first of their 13 grandchildren was born. During the next 10 years, the Spaldings helped care for their family, volunteered in their community and dental clinics in Mexico, restored older homes and traveled abroad.
In 2008 Dr. Spalding fully remodeled the Walnut Grove office and installed the most modern dental equipment He re-established his practice with his mission to care for all members of the Delta community and provide them with the most excellent dental care possible.
Dr. Spalding is committed to continuing his dental education by attending seminars and lectures which teach the latest techniques in dental care. For 8 years he attended weekend classes with the United States Dental Institute to learn Orthodontic Care. He has 25 years experience doing all phases of general dentistry including Crowns and Bridges, Complete and Partial Dentures, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Endodontics (root canal), Periodontics, and Restorative Dentistry for adults and children. Dr. Spalding is now mastering the latest techniques in Dental Implants, Cosmetic and Laser Dentistry.
